Bewerbungen für eigene Beiträge (call for abstracts) können bis zum 30. April 2014 eingereicht werden.

Der GfÖ liegt dabei besonders die Bewerbung einer Session zum Themenfeld Naturschutz & Bildung am Herzen. Diese Session wurde betitelt mit "The Role of Education in Conservation Biology". Die GfÖ erhofft sich, dass die wichtige Rolle der Bildung wieder verstärkt in den Fokus genommen und enger mit der ökologischen Forschung vernetzt wird.

Zudem wird es eine deutschsprachige Naturschutzsession mit dem Titel "Naturschutzfachliches Monitoring - Wirkungskontrollen im Spannungsfeld von Wünschenswertem, Erfordernissen und Machbarem", geleitet durch Vertreter der Heinz-Sielmann-Stiftung, geben.

Die Tagungsgebühren liegen zwischen 30,00 bis 250,00 Euro.

Session: The Role of education in conservation biology

Participation and informed decision-making of people and societies is fundamental for conservation and its successful implementation. Therefore education and knowledge integration has to be considered as an integral part of environmental conservation and management. In this session we would like to address applied interdisciplinary research on topics such as:

• raising awareness of people and changing attitudes towards necessity of conservation
• values for conservation
• culturally adapted teaching concepts
• facing complexity and uncertainty in teaching environmental issues
• didactics for learning about complex human-environment systems
• training for environmental conservation
• chances and caveats of formal and informal learning contexts
• mediating conflicts between people and conservationists
• sustainability communication

Guiding theme: "Integrating ecological knowledge into nature conservation and ecosystem management"

Along the lines of this guiding theme, we will stimulate scientific discussions on basic and applied ecological topics as well as on nature conservation and management. Special focus will be given to:

• biodiversity research (e.g. diversity of genes, species and ecosystems; threats and conservation)
• ecosystem functioning (e.g. ecosystem services, processes and functions, ecological dynamics)
• species and populations (e.g. interactions, competition, adaption, survival, community assembly, past and current pattern)
• ecosystem types (e.g. marine, aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems; from polar to tropical regions, from lowlands to mountains)
• global change effects (e.g. climate change, land use change, nutrient deposition, invasive species)
• management (e.g. general and international approaches, restoration ecology, sustainable land management)
• conservation approaches (e.g. linking ecological knowledge to nature conservation, environmental education, sustainability, community conservation, socio-ecological approaches, policy advice)
