Lime, its building material, is especially susceptible to environmental damages. It responds with sulphur-sour air pollutants and its surface is finally
converting into plaster. In a model project, appropriate methods for cleaning and preservation of limestone were tested and optimized at the example of the cathedral's west portal. Laser technology proved to be especially suitable in order to clean the plastered surfaces from impuritie.
