Wooden parts as doors and windows are normally varnished with conventional procedures which lead to considerable volumes of lacquer waste. The company Rhenocoll developed in cooperation with the Fraunhofer-Institute for Wood Research, the Wilhelm-Klauditz-Institute WKI the »fully flood-capable« coating system Flowcoat which allows to recycle a big share of the lacquer at a constant quality. With the procedure, the wood is repeatedly coated with the lacquer. The new wood lacquer from Rhenocoll can be used as primer and for the intermediate and final coating. The integral technology offers clear advantages in comparison to the conventional wood coating: Approximately 90 % less lacquer waste accrues, the energy consumption is reduced in the same proportion. Moreover almost 80 % less solvent evaporates. The Ministry of Economics of Rhineland- Palatinate and the Chambers of Commerce and Handicrafts awarded the company Rhenocoll for its development with the innovation prize in 2005.
