During the period of the Iron Curtain, the entry into the nature reserve was strictly forbidden for the local population since it was part of the no-go area. Consequence was the inhabitants estrangement to their direct environment. Time for a change: students and citizens are now encouraged to contribute to the laying-out of nature and settlement areas of their surroundings.

Students are above all one target group of the project. They document their surroundings and develop suggestions for the improvement of schools and communities. A project manual as well as diverse instruction materials serve as compendium. Some groups created already school gardens, organised waste separation, planted trees and covered inner courtyards with greenery.

Concern of the project is to strengthen the environmental consciousness – the teenagers should be delighted of what their projects cause in the region. Manual and instruction material form the basis for further similar projects. They are available at the Slovak school authority or DAPHNE.
