The transportation business increasingly must face these and similar questions.

Taking necessary safety details into account, the quality concepts and the requirements of environmental protection are two sides of a coin. In order to guarantee a high-quality operational environmental management, competent staff ist important. Therefore, the Institute for applied traffic- and tourism research (german abbreviation: IVT) started an offensive for qualification and education, called »Ökologik« (ecologic) to guarantee environmental protection in small and medium companies of the goods traffic. Trainers, trainees, young professionals and prospective traffic specialists are target groups. Project goal is the support of the industry-specific environmental knowledge in the sense of a sustainable staff qualification.

In order to gain a high learning success for the participants, workshops are regularly held and the home page www.oekologik.info serves as information platform. Project motto: lifelong learning.

15 small and medium-sized transport and forwarding companies in cooperation with a big sponsorship enterprise, three technical colleges as well as industry associations contribute to the project which reaches more than 500 participants meanwhile.
