The new building should serve as information center for the school and the municipality and should be a practical example for a smooth dealing with natural resources.

The political committees could be convinced fast: the supporting association »Ökohaus Wöhlerschule«, students, the caretaker, teachers and parents committed themselves for the construction of the building.

Today, the kiosk of the ecohouse offers healthy break snacks and study groups meet in the classroom. In the evening, the association organizes events on ecological topics. The low energy house offers numerous possibilities for multidisciplinarity: from the biology lessons develop projects about the roof covering with greenery and technically interested students learn to work with measuring programmes through the solar energy technology. In order to keep this knowledge alive, elder students train younger classmates to become so-called energy agents.

The ecohouse Wöhlerschule is internationally known meanwhile. Numerous delegations from all over the world are interested in the project. At the beginning, the information about solar energy technology stood in the foreground – now the practical project work is in the focus of the interest. It encourages other schools to develop similar ideas.
