The German public TV broadcaster ZDF and the environmental foundation Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt DBU would like to strengthen and to support these committed people with the muna – competition. Annually since 2001, the two cooperation partners have been awarding people and initiatives, that voluntarily commit themselves for projects aimed at the conservation and improvement of nature as well as at the spread of the idea of nature conservation in particular manner.
Selection of the winners A jury from representatives of leading German associations from the field of nature conservation and environmental protection and further experts selects the winners. They get a remuneration of € 5,000 each. The awarding covers the categories
- Sustainability,
- Idea,
- Environmental Communication,
- Children and Youth, and
- Life-task Nature.
