The highly translucent glass is used also for the solar panels, but is coated on both sides with nano particles from silicon dioxide which improve the transparency and the weathering resistance of the glass.

Robust melt-bead-technology
Additionally, the development of special technologies required for the manufacturing of a vacuum tube were of central importance. Core of the NARVA panel tube is a new, durable combination from glass and metal for whose production a completely new technology was developed - the »melt-bead-technology«. Its construction resists easily mechanical demands and loads from variations in temperature. No damages of the glass tubes could be determined during the test and the panel met the demands of a resistance to impact and bending which was satisfactorily demonstrated by means of ice-cubes.
