This goal had the foundation Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt in mind when it supported from 1999-2001 the programme »Parishes for the solar energy«. Due to their capacity of being multiplicators, committed parishes have a role model function for the society and thus can achieve a change of attitude towards the use of solar energy.

Public-oriented demonstration
In the framework of the programme over 700 parishes got a financial support for the installation of solar-thermal or photovoltaic systems on their properties.
A clear main focus of the supporting programme were public-effective events and the presentation in form of control panels visualizing the energy yield and the technology.
