The organisation of a »green classroom« as an out-of-school learning location in the forest area Tadensen near Meerdorf in Lower Saxony in the year 2004 was aimed to counteract this increasing alienation. The green classroom makes practice-oriented environmental education possible for local kindergarten groups and classes of all regional school types in and about the forest ecosystem.

Interactive forest experience
Important part of the green classroom is the Tadensenhaus, a lumberman grange which was renovated extensively in 2003. Outpost of the green classroom is a forest adventure trail. Here, visitors can first-hand experience the forest on a 600 meters long round course at 14 stations.
Most different pedagogic and social facilities and organizations use the green classroom. It is a successful example for an effective cooperation of schools and forest management.
