The heatlogging which emerges already at inferior sun intensity in the roof area is dissipated and fed into the heating circuit by means of a heat pump. The won energy is used for hot water generation and supports the heating. The Youth Hostel Dahme was equipped with a solar roof system with metal sheet covering. Practical tests followed via scientific monitoring through the Göttingen Georg August University. The solar roof corresponds systematically to a collector without covering (solar absorber).

Result

• The output of the heat pump is clearly increased through the solar roof.
• The preheating of the air of up to 10 Kelvin enables to run the heat pump also on sunny days with outside air temperatures between 0 and 5 °C.
