Goal is the establishing of a school network aimed at introducing the topic »historic buildings and places« into the everyday life at school. Whilst dealing with their projects, the schools are trained and counselled. Since the school year 2006/07 »denkmal activ« has been announced in different areas of interest from which the environmental foundation Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt promotes »Historic gardens and parks«. With it, students are sensitized particularly for the »green« aspect of monument protection.

Results as exemplary solution
Each school team looks for an experienced partner from the fields of monument and nature conservation or environmental protection to join and work with. The project results should serve other schools as pattern and exemplary solution. The programme facilitates an innovative contribution to the environmental education - with a certain focus on historic gardens and parks. The students' consciousness for the necessity of own commitments is raised and thereby a contribution to the future protection of a liveable environment is made.
