Amounting to considerable 168 million tons of CO2, German households and the district heating produced more greenhouse gas than the German industry with its 162.1 million tons. House owners can reduce their CO2 emissions alone through energy-saving refurbishment measures by 50 percent. With the model project »Purchase of emission rights by chimney sweepers for energy efficiency improvements in installations engineering and the building envelope« (German abbreviation EmSAG) also private house holds can actively take part in the emission trading.

Pooling for the CO2 trading
The project EmSAG creates a pooling platform that enables the trade with small quantities. Many house owners bundle their CO2 savings in a pool at a negotiable quantity. In order to provide evidence in the building energy pass, a particular software calculates the volume of CO2 that can be saved through energy-related refurbishment measures.
