OPTIMUS qualifies craftsmen and students from trade schools

When radiators do not warm up accurately despite modernisation and insulation, probably the different heating components are not optimally phased.

OPTIMUS
Optimal configuration of heating systems leads to a good deal of energy saving.

A case for OPTIMUS - the cooperation project with the Wilhelmshaven guild for sanitary and heating engineering, the Aurich vocational schools, the research group »Praxisnahe Berufsbildung« of the Bremen university and the training center of the University of Applied Sciences Braunschweig/Wolfenbüttel as also the pump manufacturer WILO AG. Training and qualification for craftsmen and teachers and students of vocational schools should guarantee the optimal configuration of heating systems. Lessons for the vocational school practice were developed (www.exclamation-design.de/simuheat) and a CD-ROM published which contains tips, customer information and a calculation software.

Optimising heating systems
The optimisation of existing heating systems is of considerable ecological and economical benefit. Savings amount up to 20 kWh per square meter of heated living space per year and can add up to 20 percent of the consumption of the buildings. The technical expertise from the OPTIMUS project stimulated cities and communities to optimise their public properties. Hanover and Bremen initiated
specific successor programmes and several institutions adopted the topic for their training concepts.
