Research and development concentrate on food and technical processes for the production of intermediates for pharma-, cosmetic- and agrochemicals. With biotechnological innovation, for example the conversion of renewable resources, process restrictions and restricted resources should be resolved.

Alliance for sustainable catalysis in chemistry
The office, located in Dortmund, coordinates projects and activities German-wide and integrates them into an European research network. For this purpose an alliance of innovative projects with focus on the domains product purification, innovative (bio) catalysis and increase in productivity, is concentrated and connected under the umbrella of ChemBioTec.
In each project of ChemBioTec existent problems are identified within the scope of (bio) catalysis, innovative bioprocesses are developed or improved and then realised in industrial scale. Moreover, accessible products and innovative bio materials (polymers) are not - or only with considerable effort - produced for chemical synthesis.
