Biodiesel - agriculturally produced

Goal of the DBU project was the development of a decentralised biodiesel technology.

Bigger farms or agricultural cooperatives are enabled to produce favourably-priced biodiesel from re-growing resources like self-cultivated rape in a compact fully-automatised process for their own need. In Landsberg on the Lech the new procedure completed its demonstration phase successfully and produced fuel meeting the relevant standards EN 14214 and DIN 51606 during the entire pilot phase. All things considered, the decentralised biodiesel production amounts to costs of 0.673 - 0.745 € per liter.

An ecological and economic alternative
With making use of the developed procedure, each farmer can produce its "own" fuel. Only a few hours after the rape is harvested and the oil pressed, the biodiesel is ready. Not only resources are spared and the CO2- balance of the agriculture improved - the procedure is also cost-saving. The operator, who is simultaneously the consumer, can act more flexible. Transportation chains are shortened considerably and regional cycles closed successfully. Exactly for farms there is a real chance to increase their net value added as well as their independence from political and economic developments on the fuel sector.
