As part of its scholarship programme the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt DBU initiated the central focus »Indicators of a sustainable land use«. In this system project, postgraduates from different universities work interdisciplinary at the derivation of indicators for sustainabilty and their integration in user-oriented systems. Goal is the analysis and evaluation of the sustainability of arable farms with the main focus of abiotic environment (soil, water, air). The project is geared for the development of scientific bases and the practical realization likewise.

Management system REPRO
The scholarship focus is closely linked to the project »Nature conservation in a management system«, that aims at the derivation of indicators and assessment tools regarding biodiversity, nature conservation and landscape aesthetics. The new methods are merged in the environmental management system REPRO. It forms the basis for the project »Sustainable management in the value-added chain of food« under management of the Deutsche Landwirtschaftsgesellschaft DLG. REPRO increasingly finds it‘s way into the sustainable management of arable farms and is developed so far, that it monitors weak points and supports an optimization by means of case scenarios.
