Modular micro-hollow fibre reactor for the protein separation

In cooperation with the companies Saxonia BioTec and RiNA, the Institute for Technical Chemistry of the Leibniz Universität Hannover developed a modular micro-hollow fibre reactor.

Until now, the application of hollow fibre modules has been limited to production processes. The pioneered miniaturized hollow fibre modules allow to use them already in the small standard in the process development. Integrated hollow fibre module cascades can be built, that comprise all biotechnological process steps in the continuous operation from cultivation to the pre-purified product.

Less raw materials, energy and waste
The development of the miniaturized hollow fibre reactors relieves the environment and spares resources: Less raw materials are necessary, and the energy expenditure is reduced decisively; product contaminations can be almost avoided and harmful substances are reduced.
