Process water recycling in textile finishing

Annually, the German textile dye works produce approximately 80 million cubic meters of sewage containing dyes and a multiplicity of organic substances.

New water treatment systems that are based on a combination of different physical filter steps can gain high recycling quotas of the water volume used in textile finishing. Together with the Bergische Universität Wuppertal, the company Schwarzhaupt Wasseraufbereitung GmbH develops a pilot system to the recycling of process water from different dye effluents in a yarn dye work. The recycled water (permeate) is completely equivalent to the formerly used softened process water.

80 % effluents recycled
As a result of this newly developed wastewater treatment, the won permeate is clear and »colourless« and can be recycled in the dye process. Due to its high purity, it can be used without additional treatment for other purposes as boiler feed water or coolant without additional treatment. At the same time, the volume of effluents reduces accordingly with a recycling quota by 80 percent and unburdens the municipal sewage plant.
