Energy eficient UV-curing of solvent-free coatings and colours

UV Curing of Inks and Varnishes Saves Energy

Sehen Sie selbst...

These days, solvent-free inks and varnishes for use in printing colours, glues or foil coatings are cured by means of ultraviolet light: An energy-intensive process in conventional systems since large amounts of electricity are needed.

The company IST METZ GmbH succeeded in bringing a UV aggregate to product maturity, with an approximately 40 percent lower energy demand than other systems on the market. The curing results are comparable. The energy efficiency of the new low energy but high perform-ance UV aggregate is - among other things – due to a high efficient reflector, a UV sensor sys-tem, that facilitates the real-time inline measurement of the ongoing curing process, and a com-pletely air-based cooling concept.
The new IST METZ UV curing technology could save approximately 6,000 MWh of electric en-ergy, even if it was only used in company-produced and installed systems.
The market launch of a first UV aggregate series for emitter lengths up to 500 mm is coming soon.
