The road to success: Energy efficiency by energy controlling. In two pilot plants (Schoeller Arca Systems GmbH, Schwerin, and ZF Friedrichshafen AG, Business Unit Rubber & Plastics, Division Chassis Technology, Damme) all major energy flows have been recorded, followed by the development of indicators for the various consumption units – such as motors, pumps, refrigeration and heating systems which allow to determine the efficiency of equipment and machinery. Now it is easy to compare the energy efficiency of production at various plants and the energy consumption of a plant at different times and under different conditions. Thus, optimization potentials can be identified and measures to increase efficiency suggested.
ZF could immediately report savings for technical control measures about around 43,000 € per year. At Schoeller Arca Systems the savings potential for the same period is approximately 73,000 €.
In case of a consistent implementation the total possible savings would be even bigger. The pilot tests show that the new energy efficiency controlling helps to determine the energy-saving potentials of an industrial site systematically and facilitates a continuous monitoring.
