Moreover, these so-called »wood log fireplaces« are not particularly comfortable, because the wood has to be frequently refilled. It was therefore important to develop a wood heating that makes the living room more comfortable by a visible fire and which simultaneously enhances the user friend-liness and last but not least clearly reduces the emissions.
The company Wodtke GmbH has developed such a heating system using wood pellets from logging residues and untreated chips. A large reservoir provides the fuel which then is burned under controlled conditions. An electronic control unit regulates the systems’ performance and the combustion conditions.
Thus, an efficiency of over 90% at lowest emission levels is achieved. Newer devices with integrated water heat exchanger transfer the majority of the generated heat energy directly to the central heating system in order to heat even other areas of the house.
Another technical innovation is the pellet reservoir >ivo.tower<. Its capacity of 150 kg is sufficient to ensure the total annual supply of low-energy houses/passive houses by being (re)-filled only four times a year. A remote control system allows to communicate with the heating system from either a landline or a mobile phone from anywhere in the world.
