Some 25 years ago Dr. Franz Ehrnsperger set himself the goal of guaranteeing the sustainability of his economic undertaking through an ecological and environmentally-friendly brewing process. In 2001 he was awarded the German Environmental Prize for his holistic business concept. Today Neumarkter Lammsbräu is the largest brewer of organic drinks in Germany.
With its malthouse and its exclusive use of whole, natural umbel hops, Neumarkter Lammsbräu not only assures the original quality of its beer specialties, but also encourages organic agriculture. As a result organic farmers in the region are supported in their active protection of species diversity.
The entire enterprise is oriented to a holistic economic method. Fast fermentation, flavor enhancement or artificial color are out of the question at Neumarkter Lammsbräu. Various means of using water and energy more efficiently are regularly optimized. With this philosophy, shared by all its workers and management, Neumarkter Lammsbräu is able to create not only outstanding and healthy organic drinks but also pioneering projects in environmental protection, which promote social advancement and resist genetic engineering.
