»Novel Process Windows«

DBU Research Project Cluster

Novell Process Windows

The goal of the DBU research project cluster »Novel Process Windows« was the realization of new types of ongoing chemical processes which could make a contribution to more sustainability in the chemical industry, and strengthen the innovative capability of the German chemical industry. In this program, the DBU supported seven selected projects from the microprocess technology field with a total of 2.2 million Euros in grants from 2007 to 2011, which were characterized by:

  • High energy-efficiency
  • Minimization of waste production
  • Pure and inherently safe products
  • Safe and emission-free or low-emission syntheses
  • Increasing the space-time yield

Highly exothermic reactions feasible

The »new process windows« are made possible through pressure-resistant microreactors and the precise application of harsh chemicals, so that high pressures, temperatures and concentrations can be attained and used. Through the fast mixing and good temperature control in the microreactors, even highly exothermic reactions are feasible.

Further information and a description of all seven grant projects can be found at www.dbu.de/1561.html.
