With the DBU-funded project »Energy transition in the hands of pupils« the »Gläserne Labor« (vitreous laboratory) on the Biotech Campus Berlin-Buch enables innovative and interdisciplinary environmental education that imparts the bigger picture of the energy transition in a holistic overview.

The educational offer addresses pupils from 9th class onwards. The classes learn about the various aspects of this technically advanced topic in an illustrative and practical way by using seven different learning stations. Every station covers the following topics: political science, history, state of the technology and an outlook. Moreover the learners will be sensitized to the social aspects of the energy transition: for example, they slip into different roles in a simulation game and argue for and against the site of a wind power plant.

The »Gläserne Labor« enables pupils to experience natural science practically in a laboratory. The main focus is on the joy of research and the understanding of complex interrelations by experimenting. Instructed by scientist pupils carry out experiments by themselves and thus get an insight into research at the Biotech Campus Berlin-Buch.
