In recent years many graduates from different universities in Bulgaria have applied for fellowships. A total of 87 fellowships have been awarded so far. Many fellowship holders come from the fields of engineering and natural sciences, agriculture, veterinary medicine, architecture etc.
We would like to explicitly point out that applications from the fields of law, social sciences and economics are also very welcome.

In 2009, the fellowship holders who have been supported so far joined the Bulgarian Alumni Association in order to ensure continuous contact among current and former fellowship holders and to build up a network of environmental experts.
The Alumni Association actively participates in the promotion of the fellowship programme in Bulgaria, helps or supports the candidates during the application process, provides important information and tips for the stay abroad and is represented at the introductory seminar. The DBU awards the fellowship at a festive certificate ceremony in Sofia, where the new fellowship holders can get to know the members and the work of the Alumni Association. With the support of the DBU, the Bulgarian Alumni Association organises an annual meeting as well as national and international workshops.
