Beim Entfernen schon eingetrockneter Farbe ist der neue Reiniger (rechts) den lösemittelbasierten Pinselreinigern (links) sogar überlegen.

2.) Water-based paintbrush cleaner thanks to microemulsions

Most cleaning processed today use watery cleaners. When their cleaning power is inadequate, however, solvent-based cleaning agents are a frequently-used variant. This is especially true in the construction industry, particularly in the manual trades and in the private sector, where solvent-based brush cleaners and glue-removers are still often used.

In order to create a new alternative, Forschungszentrum Jülich (“Jülich Research Center”) cooperated with the company Bernd Schwegmann GmbH & Co. KG (of Grafschaft-Gelsdorf) to develop a new type of microemulsion cleaner. The water-based cleaner is completely label-free and contains no solvents. The ingredients are easily biodegradable. Furthermore the cleaner does not irritate the skin, is pH-neutral and odor-free. It is appropriate for cleaning brushes and other painting tools and is a match for solvent-based cleaners as regards cleaning power.
