At the age of 85, Prof. Dr. Hans Tietmeyer, co-founder of the DBU and Chairperson of its Board for twelve and a half years, died on 27 December 2016. DBU General Secretary Dr. Heinrich Bottermann paid tribute to Tietmeyer as a man who brought to the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt character and direction as one of the largest environmental foundations in Europe. With great determination, broad expertise, and a high degree of personal integrity, Tietmeyer played a crucial role in forming DBU’s profile, said Bottermann.
