In keeping with the motto “Experience Natural Treasures”, citizens were invited on 10 and 11 June to experience the National Natural Heritage, in a major nationwide communal event. At 29 locations, the trustees of Natural Heritage sites opened their gates. At the opening event for “National Natural Heritage Day” on 9 June in the Wahner Heide near Cologne, representatives of the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN), the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU), and the Federal Authority for Property Issues (BImA) with its responsibility area Federal Forests, emphasized the unique significance of the natural heritage sites for nature conservation in Germany.
