2.) New DBU Board members

Two new faces on the Board of Trustees of the DBU: Following approval by the Federal Cabinet, Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze appointed Bettina Hagedorn MdB, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance (62, of the Social Democratic Party, SPD), and Sylvia Kotting-Uhl MdB (65, of the Green Party), who is Chairperson of the Environmental Committee of the German Bundestag (Parliament), to the Board of the largest environmental foundation in Europe on 1 June.

Born in Kiel, Hagedorn has been a member of the Bundestag since 2002 and Deputy Spokesperson of the SPD parliamentary faction's Local Policy Working Group since January 2006. She has been a member of the Schleswig-Holstein SPD State Executive Board since 2003 and its Deputy State Chairperson since 2007. From 2013 to 2017 she was Chairperson of the Audit Committee of the German Bundestag. In March she became Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance.

Born in Karlsruhe, Kotting-Uhl joined the Green Party in 1998. From 2003 to 2005 she was that party’s State Chairperson in Baden-Württemberg. She has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2005, and served as Spokesperson for Environmental Policy and Nuclear Policy of her party's faction. She is a member of Amnesty International, the German chapter of Friends of the Earth (Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland, BUND), the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF) and Greenpeace. From 2014 to 2016 she was a member of the Commission on Highly Radioactive Waste. Since January she has been Chairperson of the Bundestag Committee for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.
