2.) Smart water management helps birds and farmers – DBU grants funding to the German Nature Conservation Congress

As part of the 34th German Nature Conservation Congress in Kiel, DBU General Secretary Alexander Bonde granted approval for funding to the German Nature And Biodiversity Conservation Union’s Michael Otto Institute (NABU, Bergenhusen) for a new project. The project aims to optimally combine sustainable farming practices with ensuring food security for meadow birds.

“Once this project is successfully completed, we believe it will make an important contribution to preserving the biodiversity in this special environment,” emphasised Bonde. The DBU is providing the project with professional and financial support in the amount of EUR 125,000. The project is also being financed in part by the Ministry of Energy, Agriculture, the Environment, Nature and Digitalization (MELUND) of Schleswig-Holstein. The State Office for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Areas of the Land Schleswig-Holstein in Flintbek and the Stiftung Naturschutz Schleswig-Holstein in Molfsee are also involved in the project.
