3.) Former DBU Environmental Prize winner dies

It is with great sadness and sympathy that the DBU mourns the death of its DBU Environmental Prize winner from 1995, Klaus Günther, founder of future e.V. – an environmental preservation organisation.

“As an entrepreneur, Günther combined economic and environmental concerns long before environmentally conscious thinking and approaches were established in the world of business,” said DBU General Secretary Alexander Bonde, praising Günther’s achievements. “An approach that is more important than ever for our society today due to the global ecological challenges we are facing, and yet was rarely discussed in the world of business at that time.” Günther led by example with the business that he owned at that time – Knopffabrik Günther, a medium-sized button manufacturer. Günther passed away in November 2018 at the age of 70.
