3.) Deputy Secretary General retired

"Werner Wahmhoff will be retired – he was an employee with professional and personal qualities from the very beginning," said DBU-secretary general Alexander Bonde and paid tribute to his achievements during a festivity. Prof. Dr. Werner Wahmhoff was department head for about 28 years, technical director of the DBU Naturerbe for almost twelve years and deputy secretary general. As an agronomist, he was virtually predestined by his academic background to build bridges and find solutions in the conflict areas agriculture and environment.

He was “like the father of the DBU Naturerbe", a subsidiary of the foundation, and he significantly contributed with passion to the success of the DBU Naturerbe. Wahmhoff himself described it as "luck" that he had several times the chance to build an organization in his professional life. He also developed the scholarship program of the DBU, which promotes up to sixty doctoral scholarships per year.

The succession of Wahmhoff is regulated: since April Michael Dittrich, head of finance and administration, has been new deputy secretary general while Dr. Maximilian Hempel became new department head of environmental research and conservation. He is also responsible for the DBU doctoral scholarship program. The technical management of the DBU Naturerbe went to Susanne Belting.
