The Secretary General of the German Federal Foundation for the Environment (DBU), Alexander Bonde (46), will continue to steer the DBU's fortunes. The DBU Board of Trustees appointed the former Baden-Württemberg state minister to head the office with an early contract extension for another five years until 2028.

Bonde has been the foundation's secretary general and managing director of DBU subsidiaries since 2018. "We are very much looking forward to another successful collaboration," said DBU Board of Trustees Chairwoman Rita Schwarzelühr-Sutter, who is also Parliamentary State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for the Environment. During his time in office so far, Bonde has further developed the DBU organizationally and set important accents in digitalization and the circular economy. In particular, he has played a key role in driving forward the newly established funding for green start-ups. "In the coming years, it will be more important than ever that we use the great innovation potential in the economy and society for environmental and climate protection," Bonde emphasized.
