The contours of a sustainable approach to agriculture were outlined by the speakers and discussion participants at the DBU Forum of the same name in early July, which was held in the DBU Center for Environmental Communication (Osnabrück). In his introductory presentation Prof. Dr. Werner Wahmhoff, DBU Assistant General Secretary, announced that, because of time considerations, it had been agreed to address only three points -- from a long list of crucial spheres of activity on the path to sustainable agriculture – for the one-day event:
