1.) 21. DBU Summer Academy: How do we assess sustainability?

Sustainability means meeting the needs of the current generation, without endangering the chances of those in future generations to fulfill their needs as well. But how do we measure and evaluate whether institutions, companies and persons are acting sustainably? The German Federal Environmental Foundation (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt, DBU), at its 21st International Summer Academy in Ostritz/St. Marienthal from June 29th to July 1st, will dedicate its energies to addressing this subject: “What is Sustainable? – Methods of Assessing Sustainability”. Experts from the worlds of science, politics, business and foundations will illuminate a spectrum of methods for sustainability assessment, but will also discuss these problems in terms of practical implementation.
