3.) International Conference: 800 guests, 150 presentations, no paper

More than 800 participants from academia, science and economics convened from the 4th to the 6th of March in Osnabrück for the12th International Business Informatics Conference (WI 2015), to discuss the opportunities and challenges presented by the digital revolution. Normally, a conference on this scale brings in its wake an enormous amount of paper and printed materials in the form of catalogues, site plans and conference bags. The studies department Information Management and Business Informatics at the University of Osnabrück (IMWI), under the direction of Prof. Dr. Oliver Thomas, took a new path for the WI 2015 and broke with the standard consumption pattern. As part of a “Green Conference” concept, paper as a resource was completely waived, and the organizers employed digital products exclusively.
