The central message of “Environmental Week” can hardly be formulated more succinctly than it was by German President Joachim Gauck in his opening speech. Whether with the example of recycling via laser spectroscopy, electromobility, or environmental education in National Parks: around 12,000 visitors to the park at the Presidential residence, Bellevue Palace in Berlin, were able to see and experience on 7 and 8 June 2016 just how it works. Some 200 exhibitors demonstrated, at the event presented jointly by President Joachim Gauck and the DBU, how solution-oriented innovations in nature- and environmental protection can be developed, and how model projects can be implemented in practice. Well-known experts also took part in numerous podium discussions – a total of six main forums and 80 specialist forums took place – addressing the question of how a good life for all humans can be achieved, without exceeding the planet’s maximum breaking point.
