4.) Towards a Green Pharmacy

Some 50 international experts from the chemical, pharmaceutical and health care sector followed the invitation of the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt DBU to the "2nd International Conference on Sustainable Pharmacy. Incentives and Perspectives" at the Center for Environmental Communication (Osnabruck). For the second time since 2008, the world's largest environmental foundation invited to this conference, in cooperation with the Institute for Social-Ecological Research (Frankfurt), the Freiburg University Hospital and viamedica - Foundation for a Healthy Medical Science (Freiburg). "When dealing with pharmaceuticals, primarily the creation of awareness among physicians, pharmacists and patients is an important future field of action," said Dr. Maximilian Hempel (left), Head of the DBU Unit for Environmental Chemistry. Hempel, here together with Prof. Dr. Klaus Kümmerer (right), Head of the Department of Applied Environmental Research at Freiburg University Hospital, and publisher of the book "Green and Sustainable Pharmacy", which was announced at the conference.
