The project "Long Day of Urban Nature" was created by the Foundation Naturschutz Berlin as a new format of environmental communication. One weekend in June and July, the Berlin citizens experiences that the word "urban jungle" may be taken literally. Peregrine falcon, praying mantis, beaver, and Copper are just some of the wild inhabitants of the capital, which they can meet with a little luck in original during the "Long Day of Urban Nature". In 2009 around 22,000 visitors participated in the some 500 individual events which spread over the urban area of Berlin. Whether wild boar, herbal hiking, moonlight canoeing or bird concerts at sunrise - unforgettable nature experiences are offered every year. This special environmental education offer during a weekend is for all parties a win-win situation. This way, an effective and also for the general public well visible press work and public relations is given. Also important: This format provides incentives for successful sponsorship.
