The availability of germ-free drinking water is not only an issue within one’s own four walls. Clean drinking water is also needed when underway in a recreational vehicle, on a sailboat, and on cruise ships and ferries. In order to achieve absolutely microbiologically hygienic water quality the water is usually chemically treated with chlorine and silver compounds. Now, Aqua free Membrane Technology GmbH, of Hamburg, has developed an alternative filter system made of wood fiber membranes, which combines ecological and economic advantages.
