With a total of 29 grant-supported projects (grant funds: 1.63 million Euros) Romania is now seen as a “region of success” for the German Federal Environmental Foundation (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt,DBU) in the Central- and Eastern European sphere. This is clearly demonstrated by the fact that the grant projects under way there take place at a recognizably higher level than in other Balkan nations. DBU Department Director Dr. Ulrich Witte, responsible for Environmental Communication and Cultural Heritage Protection, and Claudia Domel, DBU Special Representative for Central- and Eastern Europe, met in midyear with current- and aspiring project partners in the area in order to conduct discussions on projects.
